Mini Facelift Procedure (Minimally Invasive Facelifts)
Through a mini facelift in Miami, Dr. Gallo improves wrinkling and sagging skin to revitalize your facial appearance and provide you with a youthful look using a minimally invasive procedure.
Also known as a partial facelift, lower facelift, or mini rhytidectomy, this treatment targets your lower face to revitalize, lift, and youth-defy. Besides the lifting aspect, Dr. Gallo will contour the skin to blend it seamlessly with the rest, giving you a natural-looking, refreshing boost.
While it’s similar to a full facelift because it raises and tightens the skin, it’s much less drastic of a change. Everyone will do a double take but won’t know for certain that you had any work done.
Mini Facelift - A Small Procedure But a Mighty Confidence Boost
Visible signs of aging continue whether you want them to or not. Habits like excessive sun exposure, smoking, and stress, among others, speed the process.
Rather than dramatically changing your entire face to counteract the effects of aging, a mini lift focuses on your cheeks and jowls, raising and sculpting them to your facial structure. The results — you have fewer, less prominent wrinkles and skin that appears tauter, firmer, and more volumized.
While every face is unique, on average, you can look an astonishing five-to-10 years younger.

Do You Qualify For A Mini Facelift?
Some patients may be better suited for a full facelift to achieve the results they want, while others might have a condition that would impact the procedure’s safety. That’s why when you visit for your consultation for a mini facelift, Dr. Gallo will carefully assess your medical history and discuss your goals. In general, though, the ideal candidate has the following traits:
- Good Overall Health: Your overall health should be good, and you should be free of certain chronic conditions, such as diabetes, that can affect healing so you see the desired results. Certain health conditions, like heart disease, can also impact the surgery.
- Loose Lower Facial Skin: For a mini facelift to be effective, you need enough sagging or loose skin to notice the results.
- Realistic Expectations: Dr. Gallo only focuses on the lower portion of the face during mini facelifts, so this treatment doesn’t provide a complete transformation as much as it gives you a natural, refreshed look.
- Is Between 40 and 55: Because this procedure is essentially a natural mini facelift, meaning it provides a subtle enhancement, you’ll benefit from it most if you’re in your 40s, or 50s and are showing only early signs of aging.
What to Expect With The Mini Lift Process From Start to Finish
A mini facelift is a multistep process that includes:
Pre-Op Consultation
When you express interest in a mini facelift or are looking for a more youthful facial appearance, you’ll first undergo a pre-op consultation to ensure you qualify and that it’s the most effective solution for your goals.
During the consultation, you’ll receive information on preparing before the surgery and what to expect with your recovery. Fortunately, both the preparation and recovery are minimal, so you have little disruption to your life and little to do on your part.
Dr. Gallo may request blood work to assess your overall health. At this visit, you’ll also obtain pre-op instructions, including whether you need to stop any medications before the procedure.
Before you leave, Dr. Gallo will map out a course of action based on your facial structure and the extent and location of any sagging and educate you on the plan.
If you’re receiving any type of anesthesia besides a local, you’ll be instructed to stop consuming food and possibly liquids the night before your mini facelift.
The Mini Facelift Procedure
The techniques used during a mini lift, such as making only small incisions, minimize any pain during the procedure, so most patients only need a local anesthetic before surgery.
Once the surgery starts, Dr. Gallo will strategically make short incisions in discrete locations, such as around your hairline and in folds, to decrease the amount of noticeable scarring.
Keeping your facial structure in mind, Dr. Gallo will raise the skin and possibly facial muscles, revitalizing your appearance. Sometimes, redistributing or removing fatty tissue is necessary to achieve the desired results.
Dr. Gallo will smooth and reposition the skin after working with the underlying tissue to create a look that retains your natural appearance while renewing your facial aesthetics.
Just so you know, if you’re receiving any other procedures along with your mini facelift, these steps may vary.
After your mini facelift surgery, Dr. Gallo will place either staples or stitches. Some stitches dissolve on their own, but if staples or non-dissolvable stitches are used, you must return for a follow-up seven to 10 days later for removal. Dr. Gallo usually places dressings over the sites at the end of the procedure.
What to Expect During Mini Facelift Recovery
Though metabolism and other factors play a role, a local anesthetic should wear off in two to four hours and doesn’t require any observation after the procedure. If you received a sedative, however, you’ll need to remain in our care for monitoring for about an hour after the procedure.
Before you leave the surgical center , you’ll receive instructions on how to care for the incisions and change the dressings, if needed.
Dr. Gallo will advise you on how to relieve swelling or discomfort as you heal. You’ll receive information about recognizing the signs of infection or other potential issues.
Avoiding excessive facial expressions, such as laughing or talking excessively, that can stress the surgical site and sutures is recommended to limit the strain you place on the area.
All patients must return for follow-up visits at designated times, regardless of the sutures used, to evaluate healing and check for infection.
Most people can return to work after two weeks. However, Dr. Gallo advises patients to avoid strenuous physical activity (i.e., cardio or heavy lifting) for the first two to four weeks post-op.
Mini Facelift Results: Feeling Confident for Years to Come
Initially, you may have some swelling, but once it subsides, you’ll reveal a younger-looking face to the world. Total healing occurs two to three months later. That’s when you can fully appreciate the stunning results. And they may last up to ten years when you properly care for your skin by doing the following:
- Limiting unprotected sun exposure
- Avoiding smoking and other tobacco products
- Maintaining a stable weight
- Eating a well-balanced diet
- Staying hydrated
- Exercising regularly
Frequently Asked Questions About Mini Facelifts

Results range greatly and depend on how well you care for your skin and overall health, but it’s possible to retain the effects of a mini lift for up to 10 years, with some seeing an improvement for even longer and some not as long.
Prolonging your results entails adopting a healthy lifestyle, including eating healthily, exercising regularly, and remaining hydrated. Moreover, using sunscreen and limiting sun exposure reduces the amount of sun-related aging you experience, which can reverse your results by fast-tracking skin damage and collagen depletion.
The average cost of mini facelifts is $7,525, but this price fluctuates based on the anesthesia used and any additional procedures you're planning to have.
The entire mini facelift process entails Dr. Gallo making small incisions and lifting and tightening the skin. Using his skill and expertise, he may also reposition or tighten the underlying muscles and remove any excess skin or fatty tissue.
Mini facelifts address the lower region of your face only. While you may still receive impressive results, this option is best suited for those who exhibit minor/early signs of aging, making your 40s or 50s an ideal time. Some individuals in their 30s may benefit as well.
A mini facelift usually takes about two hours, including administering anesthesia and prep, but it could take longer if you're having any additional procedures.
Unless you’re undergoing other procedures simultaneously or have a low threshold for pain, a local anesthetic will effectively relieve discomfort during the procedure.
Swelling and bruising at the surgical sites are common and will lessen with time. Because of these, you won’t see immediate rejuvenation. As you heal, though, especially after the first two months, the results – a fresher, more youthful-looking you – will be noticeable.
Dr. Gallo will provide instructions on how to care for your face during the initial few days after surgery. You can do most of your usual tasks except for heavy lifting and high-intensity physical activity, like cardio.
Some stitches will dissolve on their own, and you won’t need to return for removal, only follow-up appointments to evaluate the sites. However, if you receive non-dissolvable stitches, you’ll need to come back to see Dr. Gallo for removal seven to 14 days after your surgery.
Dr. Gallo offers other non-surgical procedures such as Sculptra, Threadlifts, Dermal Fillers, Microneedling and Wrinkle Relaxers. Undergoing these procedures as preventative measures or to maintain the results of your mini facelift is recommended.
